You can view the data that WhatsApp by Meta stores in the WhatsApp by Meta and WhatsApp Business by Meta app under Settings/Account/Request account info/Request report. The messages, images, audio and other digital WhatsApp elements are only stored by WhatsApp by Facebook if no delivery can be made to the other smartphone. This encrypted information and messages are deleted 30 days after they are not delivered. The encryption technology is end-to-end with 60 characters during transmission and delivery.

By using WhatsApp from Facebook, the communication data (metadata) is transferred to WhatsApp servers.

Backups are not stored in the cloud.
